THE 2024 DOOMBEN 10,000 EVE LUNCH
Caption: The Guineas Room at Eagle Farm on May 17 May was the venue for an informative and fun filled occasion. Manly Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold somehow found time during the ultra busy NRL Magic Round to provide a frank and incisive interview with MC Bart Sinclair. Bjorn Baker, the visiting Sydney trainer, proved he is potentially a professional comic as well as being a talent with horses.
The function was a wonderful warm up for the Bernborough Club’s signature event of the year, the Stradbroke Eve Lunch. Elite level jockey Craig Williams and the renowned cricketer turned comedian Greg Ritchie are long odds on to be masters with the microphone at The Greek Club on Friday 14 June.
Williams, with multiple Victorian premierships to his credit, is on the honour board for the Melbourne Cup (on the Queensland owned Vow and Declare), Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate, Doomben 10,000, Stradbroke Handicap, Tattersall’s Tiara and the Golden Slipper and has saluted at six different international venues. His tally of Group One successes stands at 77.Ritchie played for Queensland from 1980-81 to 1991-92 and Australia (30 Tests, 44 ODIs). The guest speakers are superbly qualified to help create another sensational Straddie soiree.
